Antimony, metallic element, elemental symbol Sb, atomic number 51, silvery shiny, hard and brittle metal (often made into rods, blocks, powders, etc.). It has a scaly crystal structure. Gradually losing luster in humid air, intense heat burns the oxide of white antimony. Soluble in aqua regia, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid. The relative density is 6.68, the melting point is 630ºC, the boiling point is 1635ºC, the atomic radius is 1.28a, and the electronegativity is 2.2.

Applications
1. The most important use of antimony is its oxide antimony trioxide used in the manufacture of refractory materials.
2. Antimony can be combined with lead to form versatile alloys whose hardness and mechanical strength are improved by antimony.
3. Stabilizers and catalysts for the production of polyethylene terephthalate.
4. A clarifier used to remove microscopic air bubbles from glass, primarily for the manufacture of television screens
5. It is also used in pigment.
